Door Knockers in DC

Walking around my neighborhood in DC is definitely one of the best things about living here. There are endless historic houses with elegant details to admire. Because the houses are small and usually without much outdoor space, people are able to really focus on making the front door and entry way. It's often one of the only ways to express your style to the world walking by. One of the most fun details are people's door knockers; I always come across some pretty unique ones! Eagles and lions are common, but you also see less obscure animals like foxes, whales, dolphins, and reindeer, and also gremlins and ogres. I also love the paint color combinations. Brightly-colored row houses are so happy!
